We have been proudly based in Heidelberg for many years. Although Octagon Data GmbH was founded in 2025, many of us have worked together for over 25 years. This long-standing professional synergy is the foundation of our success. Knowing each other’s strengths, work styles, and values allows us to build high-quality products with precision and trust.
Kevin Bauer
Support and Production
Kevin began his career in 2007 with an apprenticeship at Telekom AG in Mannheim to become an IT systems electronics engineer. Since 2010, he has worked alongside Lord across various companies, contributing to production, development and support. When ACQUIFER was acquired by Bruker, Kevin remained with his team, continuing to develop, produce and support the ACQUIFER HIVEs. When the Team decided to found Octagon Data GmbH, Kevin has been part of the journey from day one. Kevin is highly valued for his deep expertise in hardware, IT infrastructure, and emerging technologies. If something can be realized, Kevin knows how. Now 34, he brings nearly 20 years of hands-on IT experience to the team.
Jürgen Bierlein
Software Development
Jürgen began his career in 1997 working at SAP SE Walldorf in various responsibilities like UNIX/Linux Hardware and Software Admistration, Partner Software Certification, Customer Support and Software Development in C, Perl, Python and ABAP. Since June 2025 he is working as Chief Development Architect for Octagon Data GmbH. Jürgen is known for his deep insight and expertise in software development, IT infrastructure, and emerging technologies. Jürgen know’s how to get the job done.
Lord Hess
Managing Director
Lord joined ACQUIFER AG in 2016. With extensive experience in network technologies and data management from his time at SAP and CERN, he spearheaded a complete overhaul of the company’s solution, then known as ACQUIFER HIVE. This redesign featured enterprise-grade components, innovative cooling systems, user-friendly software, and precise long-term performance measurement, all contributing to the success of the HIVE series. After two years at Bruker, Lord decided to embark on a new venture, founding his own company. The OCTAGON PRIME reflects his vast experience and incorporates modern, forward-thinking ideas.
Ralf Mulflur
Managing Director
After studying industrial engineering at the Technical University of Berlin, Ralf Mulflur successfully worked in various management roles in the development of young technology companies into established companies for more than 25 years. His focus was always on turning new technical approaches into market-ready, stable products. From 2012 to 2025, he was a member of the Executive Board of ACQUIFER AG. During this time, he was jointly responsible for the development and implementation of the ACQUIFER product areas together with the product teams.
Bettina Trauernicht
Sales & Product Management
Bettina completed her Ph.D. at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany, where she first engaged with image data-intensive projects from microscopy, electron microscopy, and synchrotron light sources. She joined the original ACQUIFER Team in 2017 as a sales manager in life sciences. After two years with Bruker, Bettina joined Octagon Data GmbH. Here, she integrates her empathy, resilience, integrity, strong problem-solving skills, and extensive product knowledge to provide innovative solutions to both new and existing customers, ensuring their needs are met effectively and efficiently.
Simon Trauernicht
Administration
Simon is an administrative specialist at Octagon Data GmbH, known for his precision, organizational skills, and forward-thinking approach. He ensures that internal processes run smoothly and that team communication remains efficient. With a keen eye for detail, Simon is a reliable point of contact for both colleagues and customers. He thrives in dynamic situations, maintaining oversight and supporting the team with well-planned logistics. His calm demeanor and high efficiency make him an essential part of our company culture and a key contributor to our daily productivity.
